Fire-season gutter clean
Dry leaves in a gutter are exactly where embers land. The CFA tells people in bushfire areas to clear their gutters in early spring, before the Fire Danger Period is declared — and again through the season.
This is my standard clean, booked for the weeks before the Fire Danger Period starts, with extra attention to the places embers collect: roof valleys, box gutters, the junction where a pergola or verandah meets the roof, and anything caught behind solar panels I can safely reach.
Your photo report is dated, so it's a record that the work was done. If you've received a Fire Prevention Notice from Manningham or Nillumbik council, send me the deadline when you book and I'll fit you in before it.
A clean gutter is one part of a bushfire plan, not the whole of it. The CFA's property preparation guide covers the rest.
Signs it's time
- You live in or near the Bushfire Management Overlay
