Terms of service.

These terms cover work done by Vin McHugh, trading as Warrandyte Gutters. By booking a clean you're agreeing to them.

What I do

Cleaning of gutters, roof valleys and downpipes on homes in my service area — see services for the full list. I don't do repairs or replacement of gutters, downpipes or roofing: that's licensed plumbing work in Victoria. If I find a problem I'll photograph it and tell you.

Bookings

A booking form is a request, not a locked-in appointment. It becomes a confirmed clean when I email or call you back with a day. All times are Melbourne time.

You don't need to be home, but I need safe access to the outside of the house. Tell me about locked gates, dogs, alarms and anything on the roof — solar panels, aerials, skylights — when you book.

If you need to cancel or move a clean, let me know as early as you can — there's no cancellation fee.

Weather and fire danger days

I don't work on roofs or ladders in rain, high wind, storms, or on days with an Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger rating. If the weather turns, I'll move your clean to the next suitable day and let you know as soon as I can.

Pricing

Prices are fixed by type of property and published on the pricing page. The price shown when you booked is the price you pay, unless the property turns out to be a different type from the one picked (for example a double storey booked as a single) — in which case I'll tell you before I start, and you can cancel at no charge.

A blocked downpipe that needs jetting is $90 each, and only with your OK on the day. No GST is charged — I'm not registered for GST.

The Fire-ready plan

The plan books you in for two cleans a year at 12% off each. There's no contract and nothing is charged in advance: you pay after each clean, and you can leave the plan any time by telling me.

Safety and access

Safety comes first, mine and yours. I may decline or stop work on any part of a roof I judge unsafe — for example brittle or broken tiles, a roof that may contain asbestos, rotten fascias, or no safe ladder position. If that happens you'll only pay for the part of the job that was done.

Please keep children and pets away from ladders and the work area while I'm working.

Paying

You can tap a card on the day, or I'll email you an invoice — due within 7 days, and payable by the card payment link on the invoice.

If an invoice is heading overdue I'll send a reminder, not a debt collector. Talk to me if money is tight and we'll work something out.

Damage and liability

My services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under Australian Consumer Law — including that the work will be done with due care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

Gutters, roofs and downpipes that are already rusted, cracked or loose can fail when they're touched. I'll take reasonable care and point out anything I see before I start, but I'm not responsible for pre-existing damage or wear, or for problems that come from it.

Beyond your Australian Consumer Law rights, and to the extent the law allows, what I owe you if something goes wrong is capped at redoing the work or refunding what you paid for it. I'm not liable for indirect losses. If I damage something of yours, tell me — I'd rather fix it than argue about it.

The boring bits

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia. How I handle your details is set out in the privacy policy. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. The terms that apply to your job are the ones on this page when I confirmed your booking.
